Atlanta's Trusted Workshop for Complex Heirloom Transformation

Family stones, rings built from scratch, redesigns that carry a lot of meaning — this is the work we take on. Our own jewelers have done it here in the shop since 1998. We do the 3D design and the bench work under one roof. Every piece is looked over closely before we start, and we build settings that hold the stones securely.

Complicated projects welcome. Ask about same-day consultation and rush turnaround for proposals, anniversaries, and travel.

Why Atlanta Brings Us the Hard Ones

When a job is difficult or the piece can't be replaced, this is the work we specialize in.

What sets us apart:

  • Our own bench jewelers, with a GIA Graduate Gemologist checking the work — we can account for your piece at every step
  • 3D design — see a realistic picture of the finished ring before we set a single stone
  • A close look before we start — we check where the metal has worn thin, where the ring takes the most pressure, and whether any stone is chipped or loose
  • The tricky shapes — stones set sideways (east-west), curved bands that fit around a ring you already own, low-sitting designs, and custom fits
  • Heirlooms handled carefully — we photograph and log the piece at drop-off and check the work at the bench at every stage

The Farsi Heirloom Transformation Program

A careful, well-documented way to turn a piece that sits in a drawer into one you wear every day. We take on the hard jobs: delicate antique settings, family stones that don't match each other, and rings that need rebuilding from the inside out. That work takes bench skill and problem-solving, and it is what our shop is set up for.

Documented at Every Step

  • Written down at drop-off: we photograph the piece, count the stones, weigh it, and note its condition
  • Sealed, labeled, and logged: the whole time it is with us
  • Checked at the bench: we inspect before setting, make sure every stone sits tight, and check the finished work again
  • Progress videos if you want them: short clips of the key setting and finishing steps
  • Graduate Gemologist oversight: every heirloom job is reviewed to be sure the piece is sound and the stones are safe

Built to Be Worn Every Day

  • Settings that protect the stone: bezels and half-bezels that wrap the edge, low-sitting heads (the small metal claw that grips the center stone), and thicker prongs that last
  • Nothing that snags: we keep the ring low, smooth the gallery (the open metalwork under the stone), and set the stone at a height that clears sweaters, gloves, and hair
  • Stronger where it counts: we thicken the shank, spread the pressure so no single spot takes it all, and reinforce the places that wear out first
  • After the redesign: a fresh appraisal and help getting the piece added to your insurance
  • Complimentary 6-month structural checkup: bring the piece back at six months and we check the prongs, stones, and metal at no charge. Adjustments are free for the first 90 days.
Case Study

Heirloom Engagement Ring — Rebuilt from the Inside Out

Challenge: A vintage ring with worn prongs. It sat high on the hand and caught on everything, and the family stones were at risk of falling out.

Solution: We redesigned the whole ring in 3D, sat it lower on the hand, and rebuilt the prongs thicker. The original metal was reused. The new setting protects the stones without dulling the sparkle.

After: modern low-profile engagement ring with protective setting design using original metal and heirloom diamonds
After: Built for Daily Wear
Case Study

Two Rings Made into One: A Halo Ring from an Engagement Ring & Wedding Band

Challenge: She wanted her engagement ring and wedding band turned into one modern halo ring — keeping what both pieces meant to her, but ending up with something new she would wear every day.

Solution: We designed the new ring in 3D using the metal and stones from both. The wedding band's diamonds went into the halo around the center stone. We reset the center stone. The result is one ring that carries both originals in an up-to-date shape.

Before: Two Separate Rings
After: unified halo engagement ring created by combining original engagement ring and wedding band
After: One Halo Ring
Memorial Transformation

Two Wedding Bands Made into a Keepsake She Can Wear

Challenge: She wanted to honor her late husband's wedding band in one piece she could wear every day.

Solution: We built the smaller band so it spins freely inside the larger one. The two rings became a single pendant that moves as she wears it.

Made Again from a Photo

Lost Ring Rebuilt from a Single Photo

Challenge: A ring that could not be replaced was lost while travelling. All we had to go on was one photo.

Solution: We measured the photo and rebuilt the ring in 3D to match its proportions, stone placement, and details. Then we cast and finished it to match the original.

The Heirloom and Custom Work We Do In-House

Our Sandy Springs workshop handles the bench work and the 3D design itself:

Heirloom Transformation

  • Family stones set into new pieces: inherited diamonds and gemstones moved into a new design, in settings built to protect them
  • Antique settings restored and rebuilt: we keep the old metalwork and reinforce what has worn out — thin prongs, worn-through galleries, tired shanks
  • Changed to a safer setting: bezel, half-bezel, or a lower head, with the metal reinforced
  • Several stones brought into one piece: a pendant, band, or cluster ring made from a group of family stones
  • Memorial pieces: wedding bands, watches, and other keepsakes made into something wearable

Design and Construction

  • 3D design: a realistic picture of the finished piece before we make it
  • Contour bands and custom fits: bands shaped to nest against a ring you already own, and stacks that line up properly
  • East-west resets: emerald, oval, marquise, and radiant stones turned sideways, with the band shaped to match
  • Halo rebuilds: better proportions, fresh micro-pavé, and a lower profile
  • A lost ring made again from a photo: modeled in 3D and cast to match the original design and proportions

Finishing and Paperwork

  • Rhodium plating and refinishing: brings white gold back to a mirror finish
  • Appraisal after the redesign: an updated value for your insurance
  • Complimentary 6-month structural checkup: bring the piece back at six months and we check the prongs, stones, and metal at no charge. Adjustments are free for the first 90 days.
  • Care guidance: how to look after the piece so it lasts

If a project needs real problem-solving, careful goldsmithing, or involves family stones that can't be replaced, this is the right workshop. You can also browse our custom design work.

How the Work Goes

  1. We look at it together: bring the jewelry, a photo, or just the idea to our Sandy Springs studio. We tell you what can be done, what the piece needs, and the options.
  2. 3D design: see a realistic picture of the piece before we make anything. You review the shape, the proportions, and how the stones sit.
  3. A clear estimate: what it costs, how long it takes, and rush options if you need them.
  4. Your piece is logged and kept safe: photographed at drop-off, stones counted, and accounted for at every step.
  5. Bench work: our own jewelers set the stones, finish the piece, and check the work here.
  6. Pickup: final polish, sizing adjustment, care guidance, and an appraisal if you want one.

Heirloom and Custom Design Questions

How do you protect fragile family stones during a redesign?

We start by looking the piece over closely — checking each stone for chips, cracks, and whether it sits tight. At drop-off we photograph it, count the stones, and weigh them. While we work, the piece stays in our insured custody, and we use settings that shield the stone: bezels, thicker prongs, and lower heads. A Graduate Gemologist reviews every heirloom job. If you'd like, we'll send short videos of the key steps.

Can you do the harder builds, like contour bands and east-west settings?

Yes — that is a big part of what we do. We model in 3D, which is how we get a curved band to nest exactly against the ring you already own, turn a stone sideways and keep it balanced, and solve odd fits. You see a realistic picture of the finished piece before we make it, so you know it matches what you had in mind and will fit properly.

What makes Farsi different for heirloom work?

Three things. First, our own jewelers do the work here, with GIA oversight — we control the quality and always know where your piece is. Second, we design in 3D, which is what makes the tricky shapes possible: curved bands, sideways stones, low rebuilds. Third, we have been solving jobs like these since 1998. Bring us the one you're nervous about.

Do you work with antique settings and vintage jewelry?

Yes. We keep the old metalwork and strengthen what has worn out — thin prongs, worn-through galleries, tired shanks. We can match a historical style by modeling it in 3D, or bring the piece up to date while keeping the parts that matter to you. Every antique piece gets a close look before we suggest anything.

How long does it take? Do you offer rush service?

Most heirloom transformations take 2–4 weeks, depending on how involved the job is. Bigger rebuilds — contour bands, or several stones brought into one piece — can take up to 6 weeks. We also offer rush service for proposals, anniversaries, and travel deadlines, including same-day consultations. Call or text and we'll give you a date for your project.

Can you combine several small family diamonds into one piece?

Yes — people ask for this often. Popular choices are a cluster ring that brings the stones together, a band with the stones graduated by size, and a pendant that shows several stones in a balanced layout. We check the condition of each stone and show you a few 3D layouts before we make anything.

Do you provide an updated appraisal after a redesign?

Yes — we can appraise the piece after the redesign so your insurance reflects the current design, materials, and replacement value. We'll also walk you through how to get it added with your insurer.

What if my project seems impossible, or too risky?

Text us a photo and we'll tell you honestly what's possible, what the risks are, and what to expect. We've taken on delicate antique settings, unusual stone orientations, and full rebuilds. If we think a piece can't be done safely, we'll tell you why and suggest another way to get there.
