Frequently Asked Questions

What is the difference between a lab-grown diamond and a natural diamond?

Lab-grown diamonds are chemically, physically, and optically identical to natural diamonds — they are pure carbon with the same crystal structure. The only difference is origin: natural diamonds form over billions of years underground, while lab diamonds are grown in controlled conditions in weeks. Both are real diamonds and both require independent certification (such as GIA) for quality verification.

What are the 4Cs of diamond quality?

The 4Cs — Cut, Color, Clarity, and Carat Weight — are the universal standard for evaluating diamond quality, established by the Gemological Institute of America (GIA). Cut determines how well the diamond reflects light and is the most impactful factor in brilliance. Color grades how colorless or tinted the diamond is. Clarity describes internal and surface characteristics. Carat weight is the size measurement. At Farsi Jewelers, our GIA Graduate Gemologist walks every client through the 4Cs in person so you understand exactly what you are purchasing.

Why does diamond certification matter?

A diamond certificate from an independent lab such as GIA is a third-party verification of the diamond's quality based on the 4Cs. It documents the diamond's cut, color, clarity, and authenticity so you know exactly what you own, and is required by most insurers. At Farsi Jewelers, every diamond we sell comes with a grading report — no exceptions.

Is moissanite a diamond?

No. Moissanite is a distinct gemstone made of silicon carbide, not carbon. It is not a diamond, though it can look similar at first glance. Moissanite has a different optical profile — it produces more fire (extra colorful flashes) than a diamond's classic white brilliance — and is priced significantly lower. It is a durable, beautiful option for those who prioritize size and budget, but it is not interchangeable with a diamond in terms of composition or certification.

Can I design a completely custom engagement ring at Farsi Jewelers?

Yes. Custom design is one of our specialties. We work with you from concept through finished ring — starting with your ideas, sketching options, selecting your center stone and metals, and hand-crafting the final piece. Most custom rings take 2–4 weeks from approved design; complex pieces can take up to 6 weeks. Book a consultation to start the process.
