What makes a ring a three-stone

A three-stone ring has a center stone flanked by two side stones — round, half-moon, trapezoid, baguette, or a smaller version of the center shape itself. The side stones can match the center's shape or contrast with it, and the size relationship between center and sides is what makes or breaks the proportions. Get that ratio right and the ring reads as one balanced piece; get it wrong and the sides fight the center for attention.

Half-moon side stones echo a step-cut center's clean geometry. Why a three-stone should be built custom

The whole style lives or dies on proportion — how big the sides are relative to the center, how the shapes relate to each other, how the setting carries three stones instead of one without looking heavy. Do the side stones have to match the center shape?

No — many of our favorite three-stone rings pair a step-cut center (emerald, radiant) with half-moon or trapezoid sides that echo its lines without copying its shape exactly. Matching shapes work too; it's a style choice, not a rule.

How big should the side stones be compared to the center?

There's no fixed ratio, but proportion is everything — sides that are too large compete with the center, and sides that are too small look like an afterthought. We work this out with you in CAD before anything is cast, so you see it before you commit.

What does a three-stone ring symbolize?

It's often read as past, present, and future, though plenty of couples simply choose it for the balanced look. Both reasons are common, and we build the ring the same way either way.

Can I use three different stones I already own?

Yes — a three-stone setting is one of the best ways to combine a family diamond with new stones, or to reset three separate heirloom pieces into one ring.

How much does a custom three-stone ring cost?

Custom three-stone rings at Farsi typically start around $2,500, with simpler designs from about $1,000, and no upper limit — three stones don't automatically mean three times the price, since the sides are usually smaller supporting stones. We work with every budget and quote the design before any work begins.
