Is a cushion cut a good choice for an engagement ring?
Yes — it's one of the most popular fancy shapes, especially for a softer, more vintage-leaning look. Its rounded corners hold up well to daily wear, and its large facets give a warm, romantic sparkle rather than tight scintillation.
What's the difference between cushion and elongated cushion?
A classic cushion is closer to square — roughly a 1:1 length-to-width ratio. An elongated cushion is stretched into more of a rectangle, which can make it look larger and elongate the finger. Both share the same soft, rounded-corner outline. See our elongated cushion page for that variant.
Do cushion diamonds hide inclusions and color?
They do, to a similar degree as other brilliant-style cuts — the large facets scatter light in a way that can mask small inclusions and slight body color. We hand-select each diamond with a GIA Graduate Gemologist to find the grade that looks best in person.
Should I choose lab-grown, natural, or moissanite for a cushion?
All three work beautifully in a cushion cut. Lab-grown and natural diamonds are chemically identical and both come GIA-certified; moissanite is a different gem entirely and doesn't carry a diamond certificate. We'll show you options side by side in the showroom.
